Reports & coverage
What does a vehicle history report include?
Reported accidents and damage with severity, title and brand records from state DMVs, every reported odometer reading, ownership and usage history, open safety recalls, and a market value estimate. The Intelligent tier adds AI web research on the specific VIN, image damage analysis, a buyer risk score, and projected ownership costs.
How far back does the history go?
Coverage depends on the vehicle and on when records were digitized in the states it lived in. Most cars from the last two decades have substantial records. Older vehicles, and cars registered in states that computerized their title systems later, tend to have thinner histories.
Can a report show accidents that were never reported?
No. A history report reflects what entered a database. If a collision was repaired privately with no insurance claim and no police report, it may never appear in any provider's data. This is why a pre-purchase inspection remains worthwhile even when a report comes back clean.
Do you cover motorcycles, RVs, and commercial trucks?
Coverage follows the VIN. Motorcycles, RVs, and light commercial vehicles carry standard 17-character VINs and generally return results, though the depth of records is usually thinner than for passenger cars.
Titles, brands & fraud
What is a branded title?
A brand is a permanent designation a state adds to a title when a vehicle suffers a defined type of damage or loss — salvage, junk, rebuilt, flood, hail, lemon buyback, or theft recovery. Brands follow the vehicle across state lines and typically reduce resale value by 20 to 40 percent.
What is title washing?
Moving a branded vehicle through a state with weaker disclosure rules to obtain a clean-looking title. Checking title records across every state a car has been registered in — rather than only the current one — is what exposes it.
How common is odometer fraud?
NHTSA estimates odometer fraud costs American car buyers more than one billion dollars a year. Digital dashboards did not solve it. The reliable defense is a full history of reported readings, checked for any later reading that comes in lower than an earlier one.
Pricing & accounts
How does pricing work?
Reports cost credits: 1 credit for a Basic report and 3 for an Intelligent report. Credit packs start at $25 for 5 credits and never expire. Monthly plans include a set number of Basic reports each month, and every new account starts with a free welcome credit.
Do credits expire?
Purchased credits never expire. Reports included with a monthly plan reset on the first of each month and do not roll over.
What if a VIN returns no data?
Your credits are refunded automatically. You are never charged for a report we could not compile.
Can I share a report with someone else?
Yes. Any report you run can be emailed from its page to a mechanic, co-buyer, or seller. They open it on a private link and do not need an account.
